Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) is a wonderful organization open to mothers of all backgrounds with kids in infancy to kindergarten and is available in countless cities around the world. There are currently over 3900 groups meeting in 35 countries.
Why MOPS? Sometimes it helps to have a little encouragement and support when you're raising little ones, in fact I can't imagine a mom who doesn't have this need. Joining MOPS is a great way to meet a few friends and have some fun while you give yourself a much needed break. Childcare is usually provided at the meetings, which vary from group to group... some meet weekly others may only meet monthly.
I've never been able to participate in a MOPS group because I don't have a car during the day, but have always wanted to join. My goal is to get involved when the car situation is remedied, even if my kids are past the Kindergarten mark, there are always opportunities for moms to organize and get involved with a MOPS group, even if it's to help watch the little ones while their mommies enjoy their time together!

I Just saw your 'Need a Break' tag and thought I'd send you a link to a silly humor blog (work/home appropriate) I participate in:
